"Does she still mix kerosene with her peroxide? To really get to know someone, you have to hold their head while they vomit...."
Many of the selections here were first read by Rod in The Cellar in San Francisco, where West Coast Poetry and Jazz had its beginning. His writings have been called brutally alive and honest and his poetry compared with that of Keats and Browning. His singing career started in a Japanese nightclub while he was still in the army. This album is almost entirely a Rod McKuen production. In addition to writing and recording, he also composed the original musical score that accompanies this album.
Musicians: Howard Heitmeyer on guitar; Buddy Collette on flute; Paul Gray on string bass.

I DIG SAUSOLITO; KRANKO'S HIPPIE PARTY; LOVE CHILD'S LAMENT;
