RE-501 Chorus-Space Echo.Analogue Tape Delay + Manual
Up for auction,an original roland analogue tape delay & reverbe machine with manual, the most wanted of all the series.This effects module comes with an extra reel of original roland tape which will give you thousands and thousands of hours use,even more if regularly maintained.
The chorus echo module is cased in leather and wood.which it is important to note that this has seen a lot of ware and is losing the cosmetic perfection it once had, but this is mainly on the outer casing,as can be seen on pics.The internal mechanismns all work well and the unit has been fully tested and lasted a total of 125 hours before the small amount of tape needed will be replaced by new tape which is provided.The on - off switch is missing but can be used still with finger controle.The echo pot/switch is missing and the internal support bar is bent,however this is in full working order & can be fixed, replacement pots are plentiful for the discerned musician.Everything else works perfectly including all sub in - outs footwsitch ect ect.The ark that holds the tape is clean with 1 screw missing from the top closing plate ( does not affect use at all ).All this needs is a good clean and tidy up, but is in full working order and can be used as is.All can be seen in pics below.
Review : Roland RE-501 Chorus-Echo was the last in the series, meant mostly for the professional PA systems, musicians and recording production. Basically being an upgraded and renovated RE-301 with a lot of new features, the RE-501 was made with a simple noise reduction system, suppressing the inevitable tape noise to lower levels, making the echo sound cleaner comparing to its predecessors, especially during the quiet passages. The balanced input (unluckily not sensitive enough to plug the microphone directly in), and output is provided , so that this unit can freely be used with long cables as long as the line is properly balanced. So the guitarists on the stage should think of the D.I. boxes to feed this unit.
The old style VU-meter is replaced by the new ones with diodes, and the Sound on Sound head is now replaced to somewhat more useful position, behind the last "normal".
