Description
Yes, this is your opportunity and perhaps your only chance ,to add the rarest Rolling Stones release to your collection. ONLY a handful of other people can claim to have this massive rarity ! THE very first UK pressing of the Rolling Stones debut album release / Their very FIRST album and what started decades of phenomenal R&B music .The very first UK pressing of this sensational record . A very historic album release.
Have timed Tell Me and it runs precisely to 2.52 !!!
Debut album
LK 4605
Original release date 1964
Only the first few hundred copies were ever pressed with side 2 matrix ending in 1A and these pressings are IMPOSSIBLE to locate…try finding another !!! Plays really well with NO skips and NO jumps . Nothing too bad at all and is a superb collectors’ item .
Mono recording of their very first record . A massive rarity . Extremely scarce first pressing which plays the MEGA RARE 2.52 DEMO version of TELL ME !!! This track was very quickly changed to the standard 4.06 pressing of Tell Me which is found on all later pressings and only a handful of these first pressings were leaked out with the rare 2.52 DEMO version. A shorter and a totally different recording of this track!!! Seldom heard, yet alone found !
Matrices Side 1 XARL-6271-1A Mother 2 D Stampers U D
Side 2 XARL-6272-1A Mother 1 Stampers K
KT tax code endorsed on both run offs !!
Sleeve is a delight and in very good+ condition. These very first issue sleeves are normally found heavily worn , not this one. Some were issued with flip backs and some had non flip back reverse sleeves. This one has no flip backs on reverse and is quite clean with little damage. Slight tear on opening edge and some light ring wear of vinyl impression on front face. Minor creasing only .Very good example of this first issue, single laminated front, sleeve !
Audio
Graded Very good . Plays really well . Surface noise detected but remains distant and tones filter through in sensational style. NO sticks. NO jumps ! So unusual and rare to find on such a vintage classic . The extra loud cut is superb and the most sought after track Tell Me is delivered in sensational style. Superb sound quality with minimal distortion so often found on these vintage releases. Surface noise is detected between tracks, opening grooves and during the quieter parts of the music. Side 1 A couple of faint ticks/surface detected . Side 2 has surface between tracks, and the quieter parts but nothing major to fault. Any surface disturbance is heard at a distance and tones rise above any interference to convey a very good aural delivery .Once again we sample the genius of British craftsmanship and brilliant engineering, each vinyl thickly pressed and built to endure the test of time.
Vinyl
Pressed on thick quality vinyl with plenty of surface marks visible . See pic for further details. Shows reflection of camera ! Sorry about that! Well played . Good visual. Gives a buzz when held . The very first UK press of the most famous of Rolling Stones albums ! Superb !
Labels
Open first issue red wide ridged Decca format with several spindle marks visible. No rips nor tears ! Very good+ condition . Spindle wear on one side. Have observed three small initials on the edge of side 2 but hardly noticeable . See pics. Labels retain a strong coloration with no fading to the silver text. Lovely exhibit of this massive rarity!
The most difficult of all the vintage classics to locate and would stand proud in any serious collection. So scarce and a superb exhibit ,NOT to be missed ,as I doubt whether you will come across another like this for many years to come .
