Here we have a superb first pressing of the Aftermath record, with the unboxed deep crimson red grooved Decca labels and the ULTRA RARE purple tinted shadow sleeve.
The shadow to the Aftermath text was limited to only the very first pressings of the sleeve and was quickly replaced with standard non-shadow text.
The shadow sleeve is the most sought after version of this sleeve. It is highly collectable and seldom comes up for sale. The "AFTER-MATH" lettering on the front has a purple shadow which only appears on a very small amount of these sleeves. The front laminated sleeve has a little laminate creasing and the back of the sleeve has a small written inscription 'To Steve with love' and a couple of brown spots. Overall though this rare sleeve of 48 years is very strong and would grade at vg++.
Original Inner is graded at ex.
Vinyl. Visually there are no scratches to be seen at all. The record looks MINT. It still retains its wonderful factory pressed shine and lustre. Under a strong lamp. There are NO scratches and NO marks or blemishes!!! It really is an astounding vinyl. The record is heavy and thick and in superb condition and SURELY IS ONE OF THE BEST COPIES STILL AVAILABLE! I HAVE TEST PLAYED IT BEFORE LISTING AND CAN REPORT THAT IT PLAYS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANTLY in fantastic mono! It really sounds incredible on both sides when played loud!!! The music is ultra clear and sounds ABSOLUTELY AWESOME with the bass, depth, warmth and clarity you can only get from a 1st Press DECCA UK mono vinyl!!! An outstanding listen which is amazing for a record of this age and rarity! Must grade overall audibly as Mint !!! THIS IS a very high grade FOR AN ALBUM OF 48YEARS OF AGE.
As stated above the vinyl/wax on both sides is in top condition which is great news for you the buyer because most of these 60s Stones LPs are as you expect usually found WITH lots of SCRATCHES. This one is NOT one of those. It has been protected by my Father since its purchase in 1966. THE WHOLE RECORD SHINES LIKE NEW! ITS AS SIMPLE AS THAT! THE WHOLE RECORD STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL 'JUST PRESSED' LOOK! The record labels are in top condition with NO writing, and NO wear showing that THIS RECORD HAS BARELY BEEN PLAYED AT ALL!
