History:
1962: My family and I (aged 17) were living in Burbank, California, USA at the time. My father was an electrician at ABC Television Channel 7 and often worked on a live audience pop show called “Shindigâ€- similar to the UK’s Top Of The Pops.
I was very homesick for England and took a keen interest in all the British pop groups at that time. Whenever there was a British pop group appearing on “Shindig†my dad took great delight in talking to them and often asked them to sign their autographs for me on their dressing room door signs.
