Description

WARNING! International bidders MUST contact me prior to bidding for postage costs. I will only ship to Europe and Worldwide via International “signed for” airmail and this can be very expensive.

OK, having got that bit of business out of the way, welcome!

You are bidding on a 12” vinyl LP of The Rolling Stones album - Exile on Main St.

Some people say this is the greatest double album of all time! This particular copy falls into two categories. It is VERY IMPORTANT you read the full description before bidding.

Briefly - On the plus side, I am no expert, but I believe this may be a first pressing. Full matrix details below. Both records play very well. And the original postcards are included and are in great condition, still in the strip.

On the minus side. I bought this album second hand many years ago. The second hand price sticker is still on the cover. There is a heavy felt tip pen mark (I would guess someone's name crossed out) on the inside of the gatefold. The cover itself has worn edges, corners and spine. There is some splitting at the spine and it is fair to say, overall the cover looks shabby. Also, it only has one of the original inner cardboard sleeves. (See photo).

Further detailed condition below.

This is from my own personal collection. It’s time to make some space so sadly I am selling my vinyl collection. Please check out my other items for sale and there are more to follow, so keep checking back.

Unlike many people selling vinyl on eBay I play every track of every album before listing it. It’s very time consuming, but means I can give an accurate description and an honest opinion of condition. I do not accept returns, in saying that if you receive an album and you feel I have made a genuine mistake and missed a blatant defect, do please contact me.

I am not a record dealer and I am not an expert at grading records. I will give as much information as possible to assist in identifying particular albums.

As stated above, I'm not an expert, but the A2/B1/C1/D1 lead me to believe this may be a first pressing. No doubt the collectors out there will know for sure. If I am wrong on this being a first pressing, I apologise, but based on what I have read elsewhere, I believe it to be so.

CONDITION

Records: (Visually) All four labels clean. Some spindle marking near centre hole. Vinyl has some light finger marking. I can see very little by way of marks on the actual vinyl. a couple of light scuff marks. I can see a scratch mark on Track 1, side 2. (Playing). I have played the whole album through. It plays really well with good clean audio sound. I didn't hear any untoward surface noise. There are no jumps, skips or sticking at all. Despite the scratch mark mentioned, I heard only two light clicks in Track 1, Side 2. (Sweet Virginia) and I think I only heard one other light click during the whole playing of the rest of the album. (apologies - I can't remember which track it was). Overall it was an excellent listen - and for it's age, remarkably good.

Cover: As mentioned above. The cover is basically intact, but looks shabby. There is wear to all edges and corners. The spine has some splits in the car, not all the way through, but it has caused some fraying of the outer layer. It also still has a second-hand sticker on the front. There is a felt tip pen scribbling out on inside of gatefold, just inside the bit where the records go. I guess someone's name was there before I bought it. The cover is what it is and I am not going to try to dress it up into something it isn't. It's in one piece, but looks well worn.

Inner sleeve: Unfortunately one of the inner sleeves is missing. The one that is include is the pink "ish" coloured one with track listing for Side 1 and 2. It is intact, but the second hand shop have written the catalogue number on it in one corner in red biro. I don't ever remember the second inner sleeve being present. The records are currently house in white paper sleeves (different styles), but I don't believe they are original sleeves at all, but probably what the second-hand shop put them in. I will leave them as they are, because they are probably better protected in them.

Extras: Amazingly, considering an inner sleeve is missing, the postcards - all 12 of them still in one strip - are included. they fold three at a time. They are in great condition.

Compared with how others grade LP’s on eBay I would say this is VGC+ to Excellent in respect of the vinyl. The cover (and one inner) obviously not so. The postcards are Excellent.

It occurs to me that if someone has a decent cover and inner sleeves for this album, but their vinyl is in poor condition and they want very good playing copies AND they need the postcards as well, then this could just be the one!

If you would  like any further information regarding this  item, please feel free to ask and I  will do my best to answer your  questions.

Describing the condition of items is very subjective. (one man’s treasure is another man’s junk etc). I will always try to be as honest as possible in describing the items. I would rather be honest from the outset, than end up with a disappointed winning bidder. I buy things on eBay as well and would expect the same honesty from others.

There is no reserve on this item.

POSTAGE

Items will be dispatched by Royal Mail First Class post. I will obtain a receipt for postage, but cannot accept responsibility for items not delivered. First class mail is insured for items up to a value of £20.00. If you would prefer items insured for more, tracked, special delivery, recorded and “signed for” delivery, please contact me prior to paying.

If   my  starting bid or the final bid is over £20.00 I  will include a postage price that will cover  for  "Signed   For" postage (this  insures for up  to £50) and if the starting bid  or final  bid is over £50 I will  send via Special Delivery which I believe  insures for up to £500.00.  Please wait for my invoice before paying and I will include the correct postage & packing should the final bid be over £20 or over £50

All albums are dispatched in sturdy cardboard mailers with additional stiffeners, to ensure safe arrival. The cost of this packaging is included in the postage price. (In this particular case, this album is very thick when in the cover. If it will not fit into one of my normal mailers it will be boxed up appropriately).
