Description

An original 1st press of Goats Head Soup from 1973. Matrix A2/B1 - very 1st cut. Etching 'Rolling Stone Records'. Please note labels are consistent with very 1st press - there's no text in the upper hemisphere. Also this is the original UK pressing which is not censored like the USA copies.The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold sleeve with the original blue text inner sleeve. Also included is the original chocolate-brown credit sheet & promo poster. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) In superb condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. These early pressings have a sound quality that surpasses all later copies - great purity and presence. Interference, thankfully, is very minor and infrequent. All we could detect were a few static crackles in a couple of isolated moments. By and large it is a very nice clean player - that will knock your socks off!
Cover (Ex+) An exceptional looking cover - these GHS copies are really difficult to find looking pristine. This is certainly one of the best examples I've ever witnessed. Lovely clean front and back with practically no creasing or surface marking/wear at all. Let me tell you - that is extremely unusual for this title! Clean inside too - faultless. Edge wear is practically non-existent and the openings are still sharp. The spine is almost totally intact with just super-light wear in a couple of spots. All text fully visible and looking superb - this is VERY unusual. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity and would be nigh on impossible to equal. FINAL UPGRADE.
Inner Sleeve (Ex) Very little ageing.. No splits.
Credit Insert (Ex+) Absolutely faultless.
Poster (Ex) In nice shape no issues at all.
