Description

This is The Rolling Stones STICKY FINGERS vinyl LP, COC59100 produced by Jimmy Miller, with the Andy Warhol conceived cover. It's the initial American release from 1971 under the Rolling Stones Records label. ROLLING STONES RECORDS and ST-RS-712189D are etched in the vinyl on the runout. The infamous front cover features a real working zipper which unzips to reveal white underwear on the inner flap.  Andy Warhol's name appears on the white underwear. Retailers complained that the zipper damaged the vinyl from stacked shipments. To correct this, the zipper was unzipped slightly to the middle of the record before shipping. The original cover was expensive to produce and damaged the vinyl, so re-issues showed just the photo of the jeans, no real zipper. Sticky Fingers is one of the greatest Stones albums, reaching triple platinum status. The album also introduced the red tongue and lips logo which became the most famous logo in music history. I am the original owner of this album for over 52 years. The vinyl is in great condition as well as the cover. The zipper works well. There are several tiny dents at the center of the front and back covers which I believe are a result of the stacking issue. There is minor age expected wear to the corners of the cover. THIS cover was opened CORRECTLY along the perforations to reveal the underwear photo on the inner flap. Other listings were incorrectly opened by tearing the edge of the front flap away from the inner flap and damaging the edge of both the outer and inner flaps. There is some residual glue on the cloth part of the zipper on the inside of the front flap. A small amount of the glue adhered to the underwear photo on the inner flap. This excess glue occurred at the factory during production and assembly. This is a rare first pressing and would make a great addition to any collection.
