MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.

You are bidding on an early Mono (TXL 103) pressing of  the ‘Their Satanic Majesties Request’ album by   The Rolling Stones  on the blue  unboxed Decca  label. The matrix numbers in the runout grooves are ARL 8126 T2  3K and ARL 8127 T2 3K respectively, indicating this is an early  pressing. The label is clean and unmarked.

The vinyl is V G. Both sides show quite a few surface scratches and some v.light scuffing but from memory the album plays through with no jumps or sticks. None of the blemishes can be felt. There will be some surface noise but I doubt this should be very slight. Bear in mind though that one man’s ‘very slight’ is another’s sonic nightmare.

The dark blue gatefold sleeve is VG. The 3D picture is firmly in place and the front overall is clean though there is a mark just below the picture which looks like it might be residue from sticky tape but it may well clean off with care. There is only light ringwear. There are slight corner ‘dings’ with a crease in the rear bottom LHC. There is edgewear top and bottom and a small split has developed in the centre bottom. The cardboard is also slightly breaking up in the rear bottom JHC. The rear is clean. Inside the colours are bright and vibrant and no one has filled in the maze. This even has the original inner sleeve with the 'red smoke' though this is a little torn at the top and there is a split in the bottom.

This is a great opportunity to own an early pressing of an album which still causes some disagreement as to whether the Stones produced a complete clunker or whether it’s a bold and flawed experiment. Personally I go for the latter. Take a chance, there’s a low starting price on this owing to the appearance of the vinyl. Believe me though, if I thought it would be poor I wouldn’t offer it for sale.
