Description
Some Girls is the 14th British and 16th American studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released on 9 June 1978 on Rolling Stones Records. Recorded & mixed by Chris Kimsey for Wonder Knob ltd., ST-RS-784080-MO; COC 39108, Another Production of the Glimmer Twins; (R) 1978 Promotone B.V.
This was the first album to feature guitarist Ronnie Wood as a full-time member; Wood had contributed to some tracks on the band's prior two albums. With a stable line-up in place for the first time in several years, the album marked a return to basics for the Rolling Stones and did not feature many guest musicians, unlike many of their prior albums. Some Girls reached No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 1 on the US Billboard 200. It became the band's top-selling album in the US.
CENSOR Notes - The cover of the original album was a die cut with peep-holes so you could see the faces of members of Rolling Stones and female celebrities pictured on the innersleeve. Shortly after release the cover was withdrawn due to legal issues and a new designed innersleeve without the celebrity faces was launched. Even later releases were made without peep-holes and with hand-drawn sketches on the cover. This version of the cover is censored (2nd issue): the outer cover does have peepholes cutout; both sides of the inner sleeve photos of female movie stars are removed and censored with "Pardon our appearance.... under reconstruction". The cover's color band is Blue-Reddish-Green-Yellow (bright colours) with 'Some Girls' title typed in red. (pure-music.co.uk)
