THE ROLLING STONES: "THEIR SATANIC MAJESTIES' REQUEST" - Rare UK 1967 Stereo Original Press LP (Decca TXS 103)

This album, originally titled "Cosmic Christmas", features ten excellent tracks that need some respect. "In Another Land" is Bill Wyman's song, sung in his nasal drone augmented by Mick and Faces singer Steve Marriott on the chorus. "Sing This All Together" kicks the album off smoothly, but it's the reprisal of the song that is really great. It kicks off with pot party noises, than goes off into a long, terrifying jam of loud guitars, fast drumming, tortured moaning, and screaming. About 7 minutes and 20-something seconds into the song, Mick goes off into that scary tone of voice that he uses, singing the chorus of "Sing This All Together". The album finishes with with a mellotron playing an eerie version of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" over static and ends with the Stones muttering something. At first you may not understand it, but if you listen to it on headphones, they are chanting "we hate you, we hate you". "She's A Rainbow" changes the mood greatly, a bright and colorful love song of a girl who comes in colors. "The Lantern" kicks off with the tolling bells of Leicester Square and goes through a bonechilling, Satanic style order of love."2000 Man" alternates between a midtempo acoustic folk jam and a Beatles-style rocker. "2000 Light Years From Home" is the best song on the album, an innovative rocker with frantic drumming, spine-cracking piano, and Brian Jones' expertly played mellotron. Closing the album is "On With The Show", a giddy number abou a club show. "Their Satanic Majesties Requests" ends with a frantic piano solo played expertly by Nicky Hopkins. All in all a great album.

Vinyl is in superb condition, on first inspection it looks unplayed, retaining all of its original shine. This one has obviously been played very little, and always treated with extreme care - a beautiful piece! As you surely already know, it's becoming increasingly difficult to find classic vinyl in such nice condition. This one has no scratches, no hairlines, just a few extremely light scuffs only seen under strong light. Playing the record, I can confirm that play-grade coincides with visual grading - it plays superbly, without any clicks or pops, jumps or crackle. Record is graded as virtually mint!!!!

Green Decca labels are extremely near mint, without any tears or writing, and only the slightest of spindle marks.

Stunning original 3D gatefold sleeve is in fantastic condition for its age - please have a look at the photographs, I do my best to give an accurate detail of item's condition! It shows 100% solid seams, no splits or tears, no writing, no ring, no spine wear, near perfect graphics! 3D image is crisp and clean, as is the rest of this fantastic sleeve. Cover must warrant an excellent to near mint grade if not higher! These pressings are extremely hard to find, in any condition - even more so on the stunning shape this one is in.
