Roscoe Mitchell Sextet Sound (Delmark DS-408) early stereo pressing - promo (stamped "SAMPLE")
Mitchell (as, cl, rcrdr) with Lester Bowie (tpt, flh, hrm); Lester Lashley (tb, cello); Maurice McIntyre (ts); Malachi Favors (b); and Alvin Fielder (perc).
Recorded on 18 october 1966.
Issue: On front cover: "Art Ensemble of Chicago Series -- Vol.1" to right of album title and above artist photo. On back: "DELMARK Stereo DS-408" and "MODERN JAZZ SERIES" at top. At bottom: "DELMARK RECORDS" with 4243 North Lincoln address.
Labels: sides A and B: "STEREO" to left of hole and "DS-408-A" to right. "SAMPLE" stamped over hole. Seven West Grand address on both sides.
Runout side A [etched]: DELMARK DS-9408 A RE-1 [upside down and backwards, in a circle] #3 X[tulip]9058 [stylized] B Runout side B [etched]: DELMARK DS-9408 B RE-1 X[tulip]9058 [stylized] B [upside down and backwards, in a circle] #4
Condition of Record: NM. Typical factory-produced vinyl smears, which can be seen if record is tilted in light. But there's not a mark anywhere on either side. No spindle wear at all. Record was played once, more than forty years ago, and has been well stored, upright, since.
"SAMPLE" was stamped sloppily, so there's some ink on left of B side label.
Album front cover: Slight ringwear top, a bit more at bottom. Upper left, mark remains where small price sticker was. Rest of front shows some age but no real wear. Back cover: All text fine, with "SAMPLE" stamped diagonally, near personnel and track list. Slight discoloration (more than ringwear) at bottom. Spine is good, not bumped, text clear. Top edge, near closed-end corner, pinched for a half inch. Both corners, open end, slightly bumped. Top and bottom horizontal edges: no splits at all. Bottom edge has some shelfwear.
I'm an independent seller divesting his own record collection. I'm not selling from a store or warehouse, with multiple copies of titles, or on behalf of a professional collector.
Shipping: Ebay requires seller to indicate shipping methods and other particulars, then automatically inserts the cost at the top of the listing. Buyer will pay amount as determined by destination, by shipping method he chooses, and by required insurance (see: below); I don't gouge the price to make more profit. (USPS Media Mail is cheapest; I will provide prices for US Priority, or for FedEx or UPS ground, if requested.)
Insurance is mandatory on shipments to US addresses: The final price of the item determines the amount of insurance required. Please wait till I inform you of your total cost prior to submitting payment. It and not Ebay's stated cost is the amount to be paid.
**For winners outside US**: USPS shipping options are International Priority and International Express. Both methods include insurance but only Express provides a return receipt. (Check USPS's website for shipping prices.) If you want a private-company shipper, I will quote you the cost at end of auction. First-Class-Package service, which doesn't include insurance, is an option; the shipping cost will be lower, but if your item doesn't arrive you have no recourse. The risk is yours.
Packing: The LP will be carefully wrapped, then placed in a standard, cardboard LP box. Please indicate any special instructions.
Payment: I accept Paypal. I also accept cash in cases of in-person deliveries.
Returns: Returns will be accepted in cases of error in description.

N A record known to have never been played. A CD that has never been removed from its jewel case.
VG++ More handling marks than on NM but should play like new. VG+ No more than a few minor blemishes.
VG More than a few blemishes; may have a scratch. If so, will be described in detail.
