Description

Rossini and Verdi Overtures - The Philharmonia Orchestra - conducted by Carlo Maria Giulini. Columbia SAX 2377, stereo, B/S (blue / silver label). 1st pressing. 1961.
VINYL Audio: M- Visual: M- / M Stamped matrix numbers indicating first pressing:

  • Matrix / Runout (Side A): YAX-388-6
  • Matrix / Runout (Side B): YAX-389-7

60 years old this year but unbelievably still retains its sheen and looks new. 

Perfectly flat.

Test play revealed no skips or sticks. 

Deep full clean sound, with no trace of distortion, so clearly it has hardly been played and has been stored very well indeed.

No visible surface marks and no perceptible background noise.

A couple of VERY MILD ticks heard at the beginning of band 2 on Side 1, and two VERY MILD ones again on Side 2, 

otherwise the audio quality of this truly tremendous record would have been graded as M- / M

They look pristine! No marks or blemishes, and no sign of ageing - very nice!


SLEEVE:

EX+ / EX++

Front laminated. 

Sleeve structure and lamination are perfectly sound. 

Spine undamaged and perfectly legible.


INNER SLEEVE EX++ / M-

Original EMI printed and poly-lined inner sleeve.

Perfectly sound with no splits, marks, writing, tears or blemishes, just a little discolouration from age (see photos).

It will be a long time before you find another vinyl copy of this fine recording that sounds (and looks) anywhere near as good as this.
