Description
Roy Ayers ORIG US LP Daddy bug EX ’69 Atlantic SD1538 Soul Jazz Herbie Hancock
Original US LP released in 1969 on Atlantic Records. Cat: SD1538.This album might be one of Ayers’ shortest, or at least feel like it all eight tracks are under five minutes but don’t mistake that for a lack of ideas. As the ’70s and a career of funk/R&B crossover loomed, Daddy Bug could be considered one of Ayers’ last great flings with a more traditional wave of jazz. That said, the stylistic flourishes on this one still lean in their own unpredictable directions, from William S. Fischer’s cool-breeze arrangements to Ayers’ choice in material. Features hewrbie hancock - Piano, Ron Carter - Bass, Freddy Waits - Drums, Buster Williams - Bass & Mickey Rocca - Drums, Sonny Sharrock - Guitar, Bruno Carr - Drums.
