Description

redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This beautiful 2 LP gatefold set – a super collector’s copy – from RCA Victor (LSC-7050-B/1-2, German pressing, Red Seal label, stereo) features Arthur Rubinstein’s stereo traversal of Chopin's 19 Nocturnes (embracing Opp. 9, 15, 27, 32, 37, 48, 55, 62, and 72) – taped at RCA Italiana Studios, Rome, Italy in 1965. There is about Rubinstein's playing a leonine poetry and depth of feeling that has been seldom equaled since, with these performances – his final recorded statements of repertoire he'd playing for over 60 years – resonating long in the memory – landmark recordings in the Chopin discography and quite unlike any other.

Rubinstein’s Chopin Nocturne cycle was the winner of the Grand Prix du Disque, as well as the Deutscher Schallplatten Preis. There are extensive liner notes (uncredited) on the music, printed in both German and English. The striking cover portrait of Rubinstein is similarly uncredited.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the gatefold jacket is near-MINT. There are a few minuscule creases, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, a lovely collector’s copy.

The condition of the 2 LP is near-MINT throughout and playback is superb in both – overall, these rate as truly fine collector's copies.
