Description
Decca LP SXL 2077 - ED1 Original UK Stereo issue of this record - Wide band label with groove and "Original Recording by" at 10 o'clock. Ruggiero Ricci performs the Sibelius Violin Concerto op. 47, plus Tchaikovsky’s “Serenade Melancolique” op.26 and the Scherzo from “Souvenir d’un lieu cher” op.42/2), accompanied by the LSO conducted by Oivin Fjeldstad.
Condition: LP: Exc+, with a lovely sheen. A couple of very light marks are visible only under strong light. The sound playback is superb, full, clear and bright, with no ticks or pops and hardly any surface noise. Labels: Exc, with a just a hint of spindle mark seen under strong light. The record is supplied in a modern antistatic sleeve inside the original blue FFSS inner sleeve in immaculate condition.
Sleeve: The laminated flipback outer sleeve is Excellent condition, unusually clean and crisp for its age – the only flaw to note is that a small patch of the surface is missing from the rear near the bottom right corner under the name “Fjeldstad” (see photo), affecting the only very bottom of the letter “S” in this name. You would only notice this if you were looking right at it – the photo exaggerates it by being so close up. All in all, a beautiful copy of this rare and justly famous record.
