Description
Moving Pictures is Rush at the exact point where the band’s precision became lethal. “Tom Sawyer” arrives with that machine-like Alex Lifeson riff, Geddy Lee’s bass snarling underneath it, and Neil Peart making a complicated time signature feel like it was born to shake an arena. Then “Red Barchetta,” “YYZ,” and “Limelight” keep raising the stakes.
There is no filler here—just a band playing with absurd control and zero fear of taking the long way around. “The Camera Eye” turns a city drive into a prog-rock epic, while “Witch Hunt” and “Vital Signs” close the album in darker, stranger territory. This is Rush sounding huge without ever losing the nerve or the weirdness.
This 2015 Mercury/Anthem reissue was remastered by Sean Magee at Abbey Road and cut using Direct Metal Mastering. Heavyweight 180g vinyl, serious engineering, and a record that still sounds like it is five minutes ahead of everybody else.
