Description
Item Overview & Music: Up for sale is an original 1932 10-inch 78 RPM shellac single by the legendary romantic crooner Russ Columbo, issued on Victor's classic black-and-gold Orthophonic "Scroll" label (catalog 22909).
Featuring Columbo's legendary March 25, 1932 New York recording sessions, capturing two of the most sought-after vocal performances of the pre-war era:
- Side A: "Just Friends" (Lewis - Klenner) – Columbo's historic, definitive original recording of the immortal jazz standard. His silky, deeply emotive baritone delivery set the gold standard for every vocalist who followed. - Side B: "You're My Everything" (Dixon - Young - Warren) – From the Broadway musical comedy "The Laugh Parade," this lush, romantic ballad is delivered with Columbo's signature warmth and captivating phrasing.
Condition Details: - All records are carefully cleaned and play graded prior to listing. - Shellac: VG condition with solid original surface gloss across both playing surfaces. Shows light, superficial hairline scuffs and minor handling wear typical of vintage 78 playback, with no cracks, chips, deep gouges, or edge flakes. Tracks smoothly and warmly with clear, forward Orthophonic vocal projection and balanced accompaniment. - Labels: Highly collectible Victor "Scroll" labels are sharp, bright, and legible with rich gold printing and intact Nipper trademarks. Center spindle holes show normal light period use as pictured.
