SADISTIC MIKA BAND -- BLACK SHIP



On offer is a rare FIRST PRESSING on the UK HARVEST label. It is also a PROMO COPY, with a "Factory Sample NOT FOR SALE" sticker on the label.

This a FIRST PRESSING with Matrix Numbers A-1 / B-1.

This album has been sampled for lots of breakbeats due to funky drummer TAKAHASHI YUKIHIRO - his next band was YMO. (Check him out getting all James Brown on 'Soul Train' - it's on YouTube.)

It is produced by Chris Thomas - he was working with Roxy Music, the band's favourite UK band. (Mika lived with Chris for a long time.) Thew title BLACK SHIP is a reference to the colour of the American ships that steamed into Japan in 1860, opening it to the West after 300 years. So this is a subversive album.

The record is in PERFECT CONDITION and looks brand new. I got this from Harvest so it is a genuine promo copy. I was a writer on 'Sounds' and loved the band. Must have seen then 5 or 6 times touring with Roxy Music.

The record is graded in MINT condition with no scratches or other marks. Beautiful vinyl and pressing. The label is perfect with no marks of any kind. There are no spindle marks.

The cover is in NEAR MINT condition with no marks, bends or tears. This is very flimsy cardboard and in near perfect condition.
