Hear alchemy in real time: studio confection became cult artefact as Present Tense emerged in 1968, from the orbit of LA producer Gary Usher, welcoming the arranging finesse of Curt Boettcher during a fertile run of West Coast pop fermentation. Conceived as Sagittarius, the project drew on a loose circle including Bruce Johnston and Glen Campbell; dense vocal stacks and ornate production shredding through concise song forms. 'My World Fell Down' still stands out, its abrupt tape-spliced breakdown cutting clean through the album's otherwise polished surface. Long held close by heads of 60s sunshine pop and later canonised via Nuggets, the LP returns here in a 2026 reissue on Music On Vinyl.
