This rare 1970 exploito sitar psych album was actually the work of legendary British psych band the Magic Carpet, released when they were known as Sargam, a spelling the tiny Windmill record label somehow couldn’t get right. Which was the least of their problems, really, considering this record was released without the band’s permission in the first place, and the suave and smug dude cozying up with the horny bellydancers on the cover wasn’t even in the band! Fans of the Magic Carpet should know what to expect here then – six lengthy exotic sitar excursions featuring the talented sitar playing of Clem Alford, guitars by Jim Moyes and tablas by Keshav Sathe. It’s true cosmic bliss-out music, sans vocals, but if anyone can take you there, these guys can. A sitar trip to a higher key. You provide your own girls.
