Description

Selling on behalf of a friend who has sadly and like so many been financially decimated by the pandemic. There are many more to come after this, many of which he has owned from release date. There will be many very rare items and I respectfully ask that no offers are made as all items will run to the end of the auction and I will not respond if an offer is made. Again these are not my items and im purely helping out a friend in need.
Ok, very few records leave me stumped as to their origin, history etc but this one certainly has! Having extensively researched the band, Sam Apple Pie, (and being very familiar with both of their only LP releases), there is NOTHING to find on this release. The music is very much heavy blues rock, has a rawness about it but the musicianship is unquestionably excellent, which you would expect from the band in question. The sound is reminiscent of the late sixties....in my opinion...I have used SHAZAM to try do identify the tracks but none are recognised (as opposed to all of the tracks from the 2 released LPs which are instantly recognised) Having said that, I will make the following discernible observations and then assumptions as to its possible origination...
- There are 8 tracks (4 either side) in total - It is a metal APPLE acetate press, original "Apple Corps Ltd, 3 Saville Row London W 1" custom recording label - Track 4 on side one is a cover of the 1968 Fleetwood Mac track , "My Baby's Sweet" (and pretty good too!) - There is a small pencilled number 27045 on the label - I would assume that these recordings were put together for Apple prior to the band signing for DECCA?? - I would assume this was pressed somewhere around 1968 or 1969?? - I would assume Apple didn't find the band commercially attractive enough to sign??
If anyone has any information that may shed some light on the press by all means let me know.
