SAM APPLE PIE – S/T (PLEASE SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF THE LISTING FOR HIGH-RES IMAGES)
An incredibly rare record in its rarest permutation: Mono and on the Decca unboxed label. This is a GENUINE FIRST PRESSING from 1969. This album very rarely turns up for sale and when it does it is usually the more common (and, in my opinion, inferior) stereo version.
YEAR: 1969
COUNTRY: UK
LABEL: Decca (unboxed red Mono label)
CATALOGUE NUMBER: LK-R 505
MATRICES: XARL-9099.P-1A / XARL-9100.P-1A

SLEEVE: VG Not too bad at all. The front of the sleeve is clean and free from any major wear. The most apparent fault is some laminate separation along the spine (see pictures). There is some evidence of the bottom right hand corner having been bent causing some creasing to the laminate. The spine is slightly flattened but all writing is legible and unsullied. The back of the sleeve shows some light staining, there is a small piece of tape affixed to the back that serves no purpose other than to annoy. Overall a solid VG, There is NO splitting. There are NO tears or Rips and NO major defects.
RECORD: VG The record retains its lustre and sheen. There are a number of small scratches and scuffs of both sides although none are substantial. The record plays through well. There are no sticks or jumps. There are a couple of loud clicks during track 1 side 1 and the last track on side 2. There is more general background surface noise during most of the record although this is not obtrusive and is mainly noticeable between tracks and during quieter passages. There does not seem to be any substantial groove wear. A real pleasure to revisit this record.
The above record grading is based on Record Collector magazine system:
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
