This is BY FAR the single rarest Sam Cooke album EVER released on his own, proprietary, S.A.R. label -- most collectors do not even realize that it exists!!! The album is interesting for more than one reason: first, it lacks charting hit singles, so many people are unaware of the nature of the material, which is just astonishing! Secondly, the album sports some of the most intense gospel vocals anyone ever attempted: The result is one smoldering Soul-Gospel piece, which is a must for any early Soul and Gospel collector.

Sam Cooke was the greatest American singer of all times, hands down; no ifs, ands or but(t)s. This gorgeous collection is OBSCENELY rare ORIGINAL 1960 SAR Records LP which, when found in decent shape, can easily fetch upward of $1,000.00. The album contains four tracks by Sam Cooke (oddly, the same tracks as on his mega-rare 1960 Keen album "I thank God") while the rest of the tracks are split between other SAR recording artists, notably Soul Stirrers. A true Soul Gospel masterpiece - if ever we've heard one!!!

(a)            CAUTION! The vinyl is only GOOD TO GOOD+, with multiple, numerous, scuffs which are BOTH visible AND audible. The record plays with bearable BUT AUDIBLE surface noise and some pops and clicks. The record plays without skipping throughout. This record WAS play-graded.

(b)            This album is presented here mostly for its historical value and as a very rare item, which can be exceedingly difficult to find in any other condition

(c)             The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

(e)             Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

THE COVER IS STILL IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP; HOWEVER, WE ARE UNABLE TO GRADE IT NEAR MINT DUE TO MINOR FLAWS LISTED BELOW; WE GRADE THIS COVER AS VG++

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2 (front side) and 5 (back side); the white spots on the front cover have been delicately covered (camouflaged) with a like-covered (black) marker

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.

-         Cover has a tiny "wrinkle" (crease) in one of the corners.

-         Cover has two corners slightly worn / frayed / bent.
