Description
Hello and welcome. Beginning in the 1960s, I made it my goal to collect every 5-star record still available, and I continued my search for 40 years. While not all the records I list for sale reached that lofty goal, they do represent an undying search for the unique and wonderful in the world of sound. I'm happy to be able to offer them to you now. Here is what you're bidding on: TITLE & ARTIST: "Rib Joint: Roots of Rock'n'Roll Vol 7" - by Sam Price and the "Rock" band featuring King Curtis and Mickey Baker on the Savoy Records label (SJL 2240), in beautiful original sound recorded in the late '50s. CONDITION: JACKET - VG++ (Gatefold jacket has extremely light age wear and light corner dings, a snipped corner, plus some blistering on the front where the price sticker used to be - please see actual album in photos); VINYL - Near Mint (Savoy's shiny and glowing vinyl has virtually no marks - Visually Graded under custom spotlight). SPECIAL FEATURES: This very rare and wonderful Sam Price collection is made up of sessions from '56, '57 and '59, featuring a variety of band mates including King Curtis and Mickey Baker on many tunes. The liner notes are written by blues scholar Robert Palmer and are themselves worth the price of admission. If you love the blues and/or boogie woogie piano excellence, this set is for you. Extremely hard to find in this superb condition, this is a real jewel. TRACKS: Rib Joint, After Hour Swing, Tishomingo, Back Room Rock, Rock My Soul, Juke Joint, Chicken Out, Gulley Stomp, Ain't No Strain, Jive Joint, Bar-B-Q Sauce, Rib Joint I, Roll 'em Sam, Sammy Sings the Blues, Kansas City Boogie Woogie Stomp, Levee, Wee Hours, Boogie Woogie Slop, Chicken Strut, Boogie Cha Cha, New Orleans Blues, The Saint's Boogie, Blue Drag, Honky tonk Caboose, and Pack Up and Boogie. Thanks! If you have further questions about condition or content, please don't hesitate to ask. You may bid with unworried confidence. Our sales history is your assurance of absolute integrity. Thank you and good luck. OUR GRADING SYSTEM: We grade visually, and we are happy to listen to any LP and give you an aural grade as well. SS (Still Sealed as from the factory); NM (Near Mint - our highest grade; the vinyl has only a very few light marks that do not affect play); VG++ (Very Good Plus Plus - a few more light marks than Near Mint; still a great record that plays near perfectly); VG+ (Very Good Plus - an enjoyable, played and loved, obviously used but still listenable record, usually with some light pops, but free of major audible distraction; jacket may be lightly worn, slightly dinged, even very lightly split, but NEVER trashed); VG (Very Good) and below - we usually do NOT sell these, but if we have some good reason to offer such a record, we will explain completely).
