Description

Up for auction is a super nice copy of the Sam Rivers album "A New Conception" released on Blue Note Records 84249 in 1967.  This is a guaranteed original stereo pressing on the Blue Note: A Division Of Liberty Records label, as it should be.  This album was released after Liberty Records acquired Blue Note, so the first pressing should have the Liberty labels, not the left over New York labels that they also used.  "Vangelder" stamped in the dead wax.   Comes with original factory inner sleeve, but is stored in an audiophile sleeve for protection.

Cover is still in the original opened factory shrink wrap, and it is in great shape.  No ring wear, no writing, no splits, no creases.  Corners are good, though the two along the opening show a small amount of rubbing.  Back cover is a nice bone white, no blemishes, no age discoloration to speak of, no ring wear.  Shrink wrap is a bit dusty and worn, so any of those signs you see in the photo are on the shrink wrap, not on the record cover itself, which is very well preserved and clean.  Personally, I'd remove the shrink wrap to reveal the beautiful cover underneath, but I'll leave that up to the buyer.  I'd grade the cover Excellent Plus (EX+).  

The vinyl is in beautiful shape, no obvious scratches, scuffs, or marks to speak of.  Very clean looking, along with the nice bright, unrubbed labels.  Vinyl faces retain their original high gloss shine.  A very well-cared for record, with very few signs of previous handling or use.  Play tested, this record is very clean sounding and full-bodied stereo.  Run-in groove has a little surface noise (what record's doesn't?), but then it disappears and plays super clean once the music starts, even in the quiet passages.  I'd grade the vinyl Near Mint (Near Mint).
