This [LP] features a classic (but unfortunately one time only) collaboration between singer Sarah Vaughan and trumpeter Clifford Brown. In addition to Brownie, there is worthy solo space for flutist Herbie Mann and Paul Quinichette on tenor, who both fit in perfectly. Highlights include "Lullaby of Birdland," "He's My Guy," "You're Not the Kind," and "September Song." It is a special joy to hear Sarah Vaughan romping with her contemporaries in such a spontaneous yet coherent setting, swinging up a storm.
...a strong sampling of Sassy at her best, this is highly recommended.
