"A Step Further" may not be as strong as the band's former release Blue Matter, but all four tracks on side 1. maintain their spirited blues playing style while the live side brings back great personal memories of their Marquee performances. A great Mike Vernon production sees "horns" merging beautifully with Simmonds' guitar playing and Youlden's singing is especially strong the standout track for me will always be "Life's One Act Play".

When I became a member of the eBay community in April 2004 The first items I sold were Vinyl records and I was blown away that my Beatles records were so popular and I was posting records to Japan, Australia, France and Germany and it was always my intention to auction off almost all of my records but so many things got in the way of me doing this, but now the tracks (pun intended) are clear for me to start listing records again.
I am not a dealer, and all items offered for sale are from my personal collection. I do use my personal knowledge and the guidance available on the internet & eBay to describe my items accurately. It is important to me that buyers are happy with their purchases particularly those items which I have owned for a long time,
I grade my records in line with UK Record Collector grading system. As follows:                        Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.

The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening of sound quality.
The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some
distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc.

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise: it may even jump. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc.. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.

After just playing the record all the way through on a new turntable which I have recently purchased to test my records before listing on eBay. I am pleased to report:

Side 1 PLAYED SUPERBLY WELL - COMPLETELY SILENT BETWEEN TRACKS - It was also nice to listen to Vinyl mono once again HAS TO BE RATED ASEXCELLENT

Side 2 Also played very well without any surface noise there were a few "clicks" but of not that much of a distraction given the nature of this sides's "live boogie music"

So I think it's also worth an EXCELLENT rating given its age.

The printed Clout & Baker Ltd. cover is EXCELLENT The front maintains its colour and shines and the back is clean. No tears or splits, it has not seen daylight for at least 25 years!
