Splendid prog/blues album in great EX/EX condition!!

Blue Matter is the third album by the band Savoy Brown. Teaming up once again with producer Mike Vernon, it finds them experimenting even more within the blues framework. Several tracks feature piano (played by Bob Hall, guitarist Kim Simmonds, and vocalist Chris Youlden, who even plays guitar here) as well as trombone.

This album featured a mix of live and studio recordings. The live tracks were recorded at the now defunct City of Leicester College of Education, because the band was scheduled to tour the USA and needed additional tracks to complete the Album in time for the tour. The college had booked the band to perform a few weeks prior to the tour and the booking represented their only chance to record the extra tracks. An offer to perform the concert free of charge was accepted by the college and the concert was duly recorded, a number of the live tracks being added to the album.

Due to the fact that Chris Youlden was suffering from Tonsillitis, Dave Peverett stood in as lead vocalist.

The album track "Vickburg Blues" was also released as the B-side of Decca single F 12797, fronted by "Walking by myself".

THE VINYL PLAYS GREAT ALL THE WAY THROUGH BOTH SIDES. 

THE STEREO REPRODUCTION IS SUPERB AND EVERY NOTE IS HEARD CLEARLY AND CRISPLY WITHOUT DISTORTION.  NEEDLESS TO SAY, NO STICKS OR JUMPS!

On offer here is a  rare LP by the SAVOY BROWN. A UK FIRST PRESS original complete with its original blue polylined stereo inner sleeve.  

     The  rarity of this album is not to be underestimated. It hardly ever surfaces nowadays. This is an absolutely gorgeous super heavy slab of early quality DECCA vinyl which is in great  condition without just two very light hairlines that can hardly be seen.  This has a lovely deep glossy sheen!! Hauntingly beautiful songcraft!!! Immense quality blues/prog album that ticks all the right boxes and incredibly hard to find. I have twentyfive years experience in grading. It doesn't get any better than this!!

!!!!A VERY HARD FIND!!! Most have been bought up by collectors!! ! This is an album that is on many prog collectors wishlists. Scarce??? I surely think so!!!

 Sensational sound quality, I have played this through in its entirety and it was a great joy!!! NO skips or jumps. Light static can be heard on the beginning of each side but not intrusive, this is really a stunning heavy glossy jet black vinyl .The audio is fantastic. Inspected under an intense lightsource and angled.

Vinyl: EX.  A great find!!! I have played this in FULL twice over> fantastic audio, a joy to listen to!! This is the true official 1st stereo press with machine stamped matrices.  I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more detailed observation.  There are just two very light hairlines, no marks and looks absolutely great.  Fantastic songcraft!! I am very glad to be able to report that this is a fine slab of vinyl without any problems at all and as such worthy of inclusion of any great prog/blues collection.   Of course NO jumps/clicks/skips etc.

Sleeve:  VG++ to EX.  A sleeve that will be hard to better. Front laminated with a couple of small creases near the spine and opening. The spine is fully legible. Printed by "Moore and Matthes Ltd." The edges are straight. The back has the onset of age related yellowing. There is NO writing.

Inner sleeve: VG+. This is the original polylined inner sleeve with blue print .
