SAX 2485 blue/silver –SCHUMANN/LISZT PIANO CONCERTOs –Annie FISCHER/KLEMPERER
1963 Columbia stereo recording on blue/silver label catalogue number SAX 2485. Annie Fischer (piano) playing Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor and Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.1 in E flat, with Otto Klemperer conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra.
Side 1 (Schumann) has no visible marks but 4/5 light noticeable ticks and occasional random very light ticks. Nothing to detract from listening pleasure. Side 2 has visible scratches. We have listened VERY critically. At the start are 7/8 loud ticks; throughout the rest of the side are 7/8 noticeable ticks plus 2 VERY faint VERY brief background crackles and occasional random light ticks. Not a perfectionist’s copy but still a fantastic recording. Sleeve has light edge/corner wear and a tiny area of surface removal on front (see photo).
