PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! After the avant-garde recordings of "Starsailor" and "Lorca" Tim Buckley seems to have tried something else entirely on "Greetings From L.A." . Thas is a compelling, if not sleazy rnb/soul album with explicitly sexual lyrics . It wasn't that bad an idea at attempting to broaden appeal and Tim once again has a whale of a time stretching his voice out with horny growls, seductive crooning and orgasmic whoops
On this album Tim Buckley sheds most of introspective, plaintive, and experimental characteristics, and embraced a pragmatic commercial view. In Nighthwakin' he gets a knife pulled on him by an old vet as he's driving a cab. It's just another day at work and he knows what to say to diffuse the situation. In earlier releases he may have written about the political causes of violence, and the plight of veterans. Or how traumatizing his father had been. Now he knows how to survive in a gritty world. Similarly, complex relationships are jettisoned for quick sex. He claimed he wanted to make a funky and sexy record, which he accomplished. The the theme of the album is about Los Angeles in the early 70's : greasy, & dirty, an erotic Buckley croons every theme from interracial sex (Move With Me) to just plain old sex (Get On Top) to adultery (Sweet Surrender), to a slight biographic song of his days as a cab driver in LA picking up some weird clientele (Nighthawkin) plus a kinky song about foreplay (Devils Eyes) a song that was recorded during 'last call' hours at some dive bar (Hong Kong Bar) ...then to wrap it up, an ode about picking up some hookers (Make It Right)
