          THE HELL PREACHERS     SUPREME PSYCHEDELIC UNDERGROUND                                                                                         GERMAN - EUROPA - E 356   MINTY CLEAN VINYL....plays smooth...   SCARCE Original 1968 first pressing of a wild ride into the psychedelic London underground of the late sixties....if it's not early Deep Purple then these cats had the sound, without the commercial edges of Purple...   Long rumoured to be the work of the young Deep Purple, this 1968 psychedelic underground LP certainly features plenty of wah-wah guitar and Hammond organ, easily standing up as a fine set of acid-influenced jams in its own right. Only briefly released in Germany and the UK in its day, it makes its long-overdue return to these listings. The album does feature quivering discordant guitar work, notably on Spy In Space, but its best moment is probably the Bo Diddley-derivative 'Turn Turn’... As an example, the guitar and organ on the lead off instrumental 'Time Race 1' sure sound like Richie Blackmore and Rod Evans circa 'Wring That Neck'. The Deep Purple comparison also right there on stuff like 'Shalom' though those tracks are more psych-ish than Purple's hard rock album moves. If collectors out there dig the sounds of "The Animated Egg" and the like, then better check into the Hell Preachers.   Time Race I

    CONDITION: The cover: The fragile cover is nearly always found with shelf wear, here a survivor with near "EX" (excellent) front cover and VG++ back cover (would rate higher but has two letters and number + small checks near track listings) otherwise clean...no split seams. nice original colors...   The vinyl: clean ... both sides are "EX" (excellent) to M- and plays with no problems...clean labels on both sides...worthy collectible...
