This Item: SCHOLES-HARTLEY UNHEARD? LATE 60's POP ACETATE HEAR*** 5- DAY AUCTION ***
I've very recently acquired this interesting artifact from probably the late 60s or early 70s, a privately pressed demo acetate to showcase the songwriting skills of "Scholes & Hartley". Pressed up by Eroica recording services from Altrincham, Cheshire, this fairly crudely recorded one-sided demo 4 track 10" puts me in mind of late period Zombies or, dare I say it, the less psychedelic moments from the Forever Amber LP. Maybe its just the crudeness of recording. All four tracks showcase vocal harmonies with backing from either piano or guitar. I've soundclipped 2 of the cuts for you to listen to here.
I have no idea whether this pair ever managed to get on the ladder songwriting wise or whether they faded off into the ether. Anyway, maybe this is their 15 minutes of fame (or 6 minutes!).
The four tracks comprise around 12 mins total playing time.
Recording quality is fairly lo-fi, it appears from the sleeve this disc was pressed from a presented tape rather than recorded "In-house". Have a listen to the mp3 and assess the sound quality for yourself. It is perfectly listenable but not great quality.
Condition Of Sleeve: Plain brown stickered sleeve, arbituary grading of VG+ as there's not really anything wrong with it.
Vinyl Condition: Vinyl does show some scuffs and light marks, nothing which interferes with play but remember this is alreay a lo-fi recording and contains some noise anyway. There are no skips, jumps or pops, I'd grade VG or VG+
UK Record Collector Magazine gradings used with additional (+ or -) used where needed. As always, I will refund if you disagree with condition so bid with confidence. Note: We Do Not Use the grade "Mint" unless the Record is sealed or brand-new, straight from the distribution company.
