Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. NEVER OPENED - FACTORY SEALED!!!

Original 1970 first pressing double-set (2xLP) in thick gatefold cover...Eric meets War and delivers a killer rated psych-space-funk-underground Lp that has been highly acclaimed for many years as a cool groover...

Fully expect this sealed copy to contain the elusive WAR BOND !

This is the RARE first issue with uncensored inner gatefold photo of the band with nude females and custom STICKER on front cover which is extremely rare since most stickers were lost when folks opened the gatefold cover up!

    "AT WAR WITH ERIC BURDON"

As the lead singer of the Animals, Eric Burdon was one of the British Invasion's most distinctive vocalists, with a searingly powerful blues-rock voice. When the first lineup of the group fell apart in 1966, Burdon kept the Animals' name going with various players for a few years. Usually billed as Eric Burdon and the Animals, the group was essentially Burdon's vehicle, whom he used to purvey a far more psychedelic and less R&B-oriented vision. Often he came up with a great psychedelic hits, like "Sky Pilot", "San Francisco Nights", "Monterey". Burdon continued a smoth groove flow when he hooked up with a crew of of L.A. 'heads', soul-psych/funksters who became his backing band, War. Recording three albums worth of material in the year or two that they were together, the Burdon/War records contained some spacey psych-funkadelia of real quality, and cool exploratory jams. The band was already big stars on record and stage when Burdon, for reasons unclear to almost everyone, quit the band in 1971.

Their best album is arguably the sprawling 4-sider on "Far-out" productions of MGM "The Black Man's Burdon" ...there are some truly psych-inflected funk grooves here, more soulful than anything found on the comparatively poppy ERIC BURDON DECLARES WAR. THE BLACK-MAN'S BURDON peaks when Burdon lays out and gives War its head. Long involved tracks with layered instrumentation's backing Eric who adds colourful dimension in his vivid lyrical imagery. His 3 part (Stones classic) "Paint It Black" is a trip! A point worth mentioning is that it's War's backing (The Bird And The Squirrel and Nuts, Seeds & Life) in the wake of the classic Beautiful New Born Child that hold your attention. Setting you up for the relentless Out Of Nowhere (that should've been released as a single). In the twilight of the hippie era Jerry Goldstein produced some of the most social and introspective material of the year. Gun hints at a country sick and tired of the Vietnam conflict, while Sun/Moon soothes the listener for the grooving Pretty Colors.
