Legendary debut album by Pink Floyd, led by visionary, founder, and musician extraordinaire Syd Barrett.
Though Pink Floyd's sound and direction changed in the wake of Barrett's departure, he remains the hero of Roger Waters and David Gilmore even in death. He gave the band its name, it image, its stage presence, and influenced a mass of composers and musicians for generations.
"The Piper at the Gates of Dawn," a name that Barrett derived from a chapter title of "The Wind in the Willows," is a masterpiece of whimsical songwriting and futuristic musical landscapes.
