Named after a clause in the Mental Health Act, Blackpool trio SECTION 25

comprised brothers Larry and Vin Cassidy (bass and drums) and guitarist

Paul Wiggin. Following a bill shared with Joy Division and OMD in july 1979,

the group financed their own recording session at Cargo in september, with

Curtis and Gretton producing in rudimentary style. Thereafter S XXV were a

constant on Factory bills and packages, altough their three-track single was

delayed several months by the sleeve, a novel ink-on-tracing paper construction

designed by Peter Saville and Ben Kelly, and assembled by hand in a workshop for the deaf.

'Tracing paper probably couldn't be put trhrough a normal crease,

fold and glue machine', explains Saville.
