SEMANA SANTA EN COMERIO, P.R. -- ex. rare, original 1969 Puerto Rican album.  Amazing and apparently completely unknown private press LP recorded with a local Puerto Rican church choir in 1969 performing original songs commemorating Semana Santa (Holy Week) with a mindblowing fusion of Afro-Cuban Rhythms and local Puerto Rican styles -- Bomba, Danza, Tabu, Plena etc. -- utilizing Congas, Timbales, Bongos, Guitar and a ragged, incredible mix of female & male voices chanting in asymetric rhythms.   Primitive, echo-filled sound quality adds to the raw impact.  Truly music to storm the gates of heaven.  Extremely rare -- I've never seen another copy.  Cover:  VG+/VG++, still in shrink wrap, light age stains under plastic.  Record:  VG+++/Near Mint- (record was sealed until I opened it so has only been played a handful of times), on private press label, Puerto Rican pressing.  To hear a short sound clip, click on the link below.   Click to listen
