Super lo-fi teen basement garage rocker that was supposed to be released on the Justice label in 1967 but never got pressed. 42 years later, this limited vinyl reissue lets the Seventh Seal finally have their say, and this high-quality thick jacket pressing of Reflections, the album that woulda been, came out in 2009 in an ultra-low run of only 400. Those of us who were waiting somewhere around 32 of those 42 years to hear it were rewarded with a very capable teen band sound, lo-fi fer sure but imbued with an overwhelming sense of introspective moodiness not present on most budget 60’s garage. And so songs like “Sympathy” and “Make Your Bed” sound like the Yardbirds with ennui, and even their cover of “Mister You’re A Better Man Than I” has an air of palpable sadness hanging over it. Not exactly the frat party on wheels you’ve been waiting for, but for fans of downer garage, it doesn’t get much better than this.
