THE SEX PISTOLS
‘GOD SAVE THE QUEEN’
AMS 7284
RARE A&M REPRODUCTION 7” SINGLE FROM 2007
Side 1 God Save the Queen 3.10 Side 2 No Feeling 2.44
Side 1 is etched AMS 7284 A on the run out groove and Side 2 is etched AMS 7284 B
The original is not only one of the rarest 7” records in UK history but is certainly the most sought after sex pistols single and no record collection is complete without it. This legendry record is a period piece of punk musical social history, and with only approximately 100 copies still in existence people now search for a worthy reproduction to admire.
For sale is an EXCELLENT+ copy of the legendary withdrawn UK A&M single housed in an original A&M company sleeve from 1977. It looks like new and I’ve only stated EX+ due to the fact it’s been played previously.
This release was a limited edition run in 2007, at which point only two or three reproductions were available to buy. It was probably to coincide with the 20th anniversary of its original release. This record has only been played twice, most recently to confirm the audio condition. It also has the correct version of ‘No Felling’ on the B Side which was produced by Dave Goodman and not the version that appeared on Never Mind the Bollocks. I managed to obtain an original A&M company sleeve many years ago in excellent condition which complements the presentation.
I’ve had this record in a dedicated 7” box frame for many years now, which is admired by everyone who sees it. I am selling the single with the box frame and have included photocopies from Record Collector magazines’ June 2002 and August 2003 features on the single, charting the history of the original and subsequently the birth of the reproductions.
There are now literally dozens of fakes for sale online, most of which are coloured vinyl with gimmicky sleeves. Some copies have the wrong version of ‘No Feeling’ on the B Side with badly cut labels and the wrong colour tint of the A&M logo. This edition has stayed true to the original and sounds great on the turntable. If you never play the record it looks stunning exhibited.
Overall a very nice example of a much sought after single which is ready to hang straight on the wall, no effort required. Look at it, play it, lock it away for future prosperity? The choice is yours.
Vinyl A strong Excellent +
Labels Mint
Audio No skips, pops, crackle or static present, other turntables may vary depending on arm and cartridge
Sleeve Excellent. No rips, seam splits, stains or writing, a very well kept sleeve for its age with some mild ringwear
