Description
This is an original U.S. pressing copy of the rare second LP by Austin, Texas, group Shiva's Headband, released in a small pressing on the local Armadillo label in 1971. The group was a key player in Austin's late '60s countercultural scene, serving as the house band at the city's Vulcan Gas Company club, and subsequently helping to finance the club Armadillo World Headquarters. Their sophomore effort is of a piece with their 1969 debut, drawing on blues, folk, and country, with group leader Spencer Perskin's violin featuring prominently. The record comes in a plain white jacket with a round sticker on the front cover and a pasted-on track list on the back cover. The jacket looks pretty good overall, but has two significant flaws: its top seam is ¾ split, and its bottom seam is fully split. It also has moderate spine wear, some long creases, ring wear and staining, and a little writing in in pen on the back cover. On the upside, both the sticker and the track list are intact and have just a little staining on them. Because of the latter, I'll grade the jacket VG-. Side 1 of the disc has some hairline scratches and scrapes, dings, scuffing, and loss of glossiness, and plays with crackling and popping through much of the first two tracks, and off and on after that. Side 2 is cleaner, and plays in the low to mid-EX range. Overall, then, VG+. This copy has the original pressing's plain black disc labels.
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
If you'd like to order multiple items, I'll happily combine them so that you won't have to pay multiple shipping charges.
