Released in 1970 on the Co1ossus Records imprint, 10 out of the 11 recordings on this American version of The Shocking Blues’ debut album were contained on their homeland’s sophomore effort titled "At Home". "At Home" received a "4 Star" rating from All Music Guide.

NIRVANA FANS TAKE NOTE!!!: The Shocking Blue’s "Love Buzz" is the original version which was waxed decades later by Nirvana and released in 1988 by Sub Pop Records as the band’s very first single!

You’re not going to find a copy of this LP record and album cover in this kind of condition very often. So, whether you’re a fan of the Dutch Invasion, Nirvana or 1970’s "Have A Nice Day-styled" pop-rock, this is a vinyl title that you just may regret not having in your record collection.

American listeners tend to remember the Shocking Blue as the one-hit wonder behind the chart-topper "Venus". This was an international smash hit which succeeded in creating a melting pot of rock rhythms, country guitar licks, organ riffs, and vocalist Mariska Veres’ heavily accented Grace Slick-sounding vocals. "Venus" sounds something like a cross between "96 Tears" and "Sugar, Sugar".

"Shockingly" (sorry, couldn’t resist), there’s substantially more variety to The Shocking Blue’s set-list than "Venus". This classic single was not entirely representative of the contents of group's first American album. Like their fellow countrymen Golden Earring, Shocking Blue purveyed a mild strain of psychedelic rock, but leaned more toward country and folk music than bubblegum. Guitarist and principal songwriter Robby Van Leeuwen was already preoccupied with Americana at this early stage. "California Here I Come" as well as a surprising rendition of the folk song "Boll Weevil" that sets the traditional lyrics to music reminiscent of The Easybeats’ "Good Times".

Van Leeuwen’s sitar is tastefully showcased on the instrumental "Acka Raga".

"Mighty Joe" was also a Billboard Hot 100 singles chart entry that may have fallen off your radar.

Rarely handled and played even less. The shrink-wrap was slit to allow access to the enclosed long out of print LP while preserving the original condition of the album jacket. Aside from barely visible wear on the extreme tip of the top and bottom jacket opening, this album cover and the enclosed long out of print vinyl LP are as close to mint condition as an opened record can get. You’re essentially purchasing a new vinyl LP record.
