Description

Here is a copy of the Incredibly Rare and Influential THE SHOWBOYS, DRAG RAP. This is the PRO (Profile Giant Single) 7111 test pressing , 12" LP from 1986, Hailing from Queens, the Showboys is a two man rap group—Orville Hall (Bugs Can Can) and Phil Price (Triggerman). The rich, syncopated beat of Drag Rap enhanced the twisted tale of revenge-seeking gangsters. The song became incredibly popular in Memphis and New Orleans in the early 1990’s, and along with Cameron Paul’s Brown’s Beat has become one of the cornerstones of Bounce production. A seemingly infinite number of vocal and instrumental samples have been culled from the record and used in literally thousands of Bounce songs to date

From Wikipedia:

“The Triggerman beat, also known as Triggaman, is a one-bar drum loop that somewhat originated from "Drag Rap" by the Showboys. The one-bar drum loop was known to be used in bounce music, which has been influential in recent hip hop music, including T.I. and Lil Wayne's "Ball",Drake's "Nice for What" and "In My Feelings", and also "Go Crazy" by Chris Brown and Young Thug.

The beat was created by Orville Hall and Phillip Price, who went by the name the Showboys, for the song "Drag Rap". It is regarded as "a classic story rap that lifts both its sonic and structural cues directly from Dragnet."

From an Amazon Reviewer;

“The album/song: The Showboys - Triggerman [Drag Rap] = The ESSENCE of classic memphis hip hop. Sampled to death and back and still great!. . . . so many classick breaks and ORIGIN of the classick samples”

I’m not an expert on grading vinyl records or vinyl in general. This rare record looks very gently played or I played to me. Please see photos.
