Description

SHRINE RECORDS MASTER TAPE Northern Soul A RARE STUDIO SESSION ¼ INCH TAPE CONTAINING UNRELEASED VERSIONS FROM THE WORLD’S RAREST SOUL LABEL INCLUDES ALTERNATE TAKES OF PREVIOUSLY RELEASED TITLES You are bidding on previously unreleased, complete versions of previously released titles and then some. Also there are numerous alternate takes found on this tape as well. As you can see from the pictures, the tape is in remarkable condition, belying it’s age of 44 years! Notice the letter “N” on the box, matches the “N” on the tape. Songs listed on box in the photo do not correctly match what’s on the tape and the group names are misspelled as well. Side N, almost 30 minutes of over a dozen takes and demo; The last 10 – 12 minutes are the three full versions of: “Huh Baby” Prophets SR 116 “If I Had One Gold Piece” Prophets SR116 “Tighten Up” Cavaliers (3 takes) “It’s Been A Mighty Long Time”; Cavaliers (alternate takes) “Shame” Cavaliers Side O, (See picture ) “My Latest Might Be My Greatest”; Prophets (alternate takes) “Do What I Want” Cavaliers “Ain’t You Ever Coming Back” - acapella/piano- Billy Jones (which became I Won't Be Coming Back Eddie Singleton J.D. Bryant) Listen to titles above at our youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLCJm2JiNDU Again, not to deceive you, there are only 4 splices total on this tape and over an hour of rehearsals, sessions and unreleased material, the output was recorded on a 4 track recorder. Again, listen to the digital transfers we transferred and placed on YouTube (see link below) and ask any questions or make your mind up from there. The offer price is fair for what is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME FIND. The various alternate takes and sessions give insight into the beautiful mid 60’s soul harmonies, acapellas and insights into how songs were crafted. Private owner of this tape is in the autumn of his years and is therefore inclined to sell it off. Own the only known, official, 1960’s master from “the world’s rarest soul label” Shrine Records. Once residing at #1 Thomas Circle, Suite #303, Washington, DC 20005 (as seen on label, although the address is incorrect on Wikipedia, #3 Thomas Circle) ) Once in a lifetime offering! Please, no fake bids will be tolerated. Specify method of shipping and your payment will be accepted only via paypal, and item will ship on either a Tuesday or Thursday following the complete clearing of your payment. We occasionally sell rare, treasured recordings and will continue to do so, so feedback is important to us. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrine_Records http://www.answers.com/topic/shrine-records-the-rarest-soul-label
