SID VICIOUS
Sex PisTOLs

Hand Signed At Chelsea Hotel With Impeccable C.O.A.

Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s SID VICIOUS - Sex Pistol !!

This is one of the nicest a pieces of authentic Sid Vicious memorabilia you will ever see... in terms of:
    • Authenticity

    • Collectibility

    • Provenance

    • HISTORY : Although Sid Vicious is, and will undoubtedly remain an ABSOLUTE LEGEND, as well as the LAST ROCK STAR… The truth is, he was only a Sex Pistol for approx. 9 months during 1977, most of which they were banned from playing anywhere… He played a mere 20 gigs in the U.K. and U.S. with them. While this, along with the events of the following year, and his untimely death have already cemented his name and image as a Cultural Icon, it also makes actual Sid Vicious memorabilia extremely hard to come by… Especially now that practically ALL of the finer pieces are in Private Collections, and will probably not see the light of day for MANY YEARS, at which time they will undoubtedly surface at Sotheby’s or Christies for unbelievable prices… Like James Dean – Sid did not sign very much material.

Some notes about rarity and forgeries, at very bottom, in”Addendum”

PROVENANCE : This piece was acquired by one of my best friends in the world, completely immersed in that scene, both in London and N.Y., who knew Sid and Nancy intimately, and was living at the Chelsea in 1978, upon my request… Ask Richard Hell, Bob Gruen, Roberta Peterson, Legs Mcneil, (I would suggest The Ramones- R.I.P.), David Johansen, Neon Leon, or any of the “regulars at CBGB’s or Max’s about “The Miami Girls”: Debbie Kronick (Later, The Clash’s Paul Simennon’s Girlfriend for years) Robin L, Shawn G, Sheila B (Willie DeVille’s girl)… Special friends of The Heartbreakers and Ramones, EVERYONE knew them, many dated them, and they all lived at the Chelsea…
Debbie and Robin (my lifelong friend), visited London from April to July/August of ’77, after hearing from the Heartbreakers, (who had just finished the infamous “Anarchy Tour”), that London was really “happening”. They went, and fell in with the Punk crowd as the movement was exploding, and although they met and knew The Pistols individually, never got to see them play. “They just weren’t playing anywhere !!” states Robin. She also told me that Sid called their flat constantly, looking for Nancy, believing she might be there among fellow New Yorkers. (they hated her, as everyone seemed to) New to the band, Sid also told them that John was being “great”, treating him really well, and he was apparently thrilled with the whole situation… She’s one of those who will tell you that despite his image, Sid was really a kind and gentle soul…
I am from New York and witnessed much of this scene myself, but unfortunately was basically living (although traveling back and forth), in L.A. during the period. I knew Richard Hell, and had met them all many times, but was closest with Dee Dee and Johnny Thunders (who joined me onstage several times in L.A.)
Always in touch with the “Miami Girls”, especially Robin; when she told me that Sid had moved into the Chelsea with Nancy, and they were all having a great time – that first Sid had given her a big hug and seemed thrilled to see a face he knew from London, and that they were hanging out in each others rooms all the time (the girls making jokes, like “Where do you hide the dope from Nancy?... –Under the Soap…” etc., I took a cue from my father (A Major Collector- I'm starting to sell some of his items. Please check my Feedback, and click onto Feedback from "Buyers"), and told Robin to have Sid sign a “Bollocks” cover for me… She balked about buying a new one, so I told her to “use hers – I’d replace it” I later got the report that Sid was laughing, and wanted $10 to do it. When Robin said F#@# NO !!, he apparently said, “Alright – 2 for $20… Nan-CY!! we have some records, don’t we??” She didn’t understand, did some screaming, and Sid took Robin’s cover and pen (I specifically told her to find a black marker- and NOT one of the big, fat ones), slapped it on the table, and began to laugh a bit at the “alterations” he did… (crossing out “the”, and the last “s”, making it “N.M.T.B., Here’s Sid Vicious, Sex Pistol”… I went home to N.Y. for Christmas in 1978, where I received the Record. Sid was in jail, spending what turned out to be 55 days in Rikker’s Island, facing the Murder charges. When he got out, he died that night… I never got a chance to meet him.

For anyone interested, I have two facts about Nancy’s death that are unknown: see: ”Addendum”.

TERMS :1000% Satisfaction Guaranteed… I have blocked out the name and Co. who inspected and issued the COA (a MAJOR N.Y. analyst/appraiser with an impeccable reputation) so no one will bother him beforehand. eBay Ads are seen by millions, and if even 50 were to contact him about this, I don’t think he would be pleased… The item can be returned for ANY REASON, as long as 1) It is returned in exactly the same condition received, 2) That I am notified within a week of receipt of your intention to do so 3)That it is returned within 14 days of original receipt…
Zero or 1 Feedback WRITE FIRST !! Or I will reject your bid, and have you blocked. Winner’s Contact expected within 3 days, Payment expected within 7-10 days. PayPal Preferred, but as an alternate, I will accept a U.S. Postal Money Order only...

      Good Luck !!...

ADDENDUM: By the time Sid had joined the Pistols, their notoriety was in full swing… They were already HUGE, front page news… BBC incident, God Save The Queen backlash, A&M Palace Signing & firing, EMI signing fiasco & firing, The Jubilee Boat Incident, etc… Within a mere few weeks, EVERY other member, producer and engineer had been brutally attacked… Johnny Rotten stabbed- Aside from almost nonexistent gigs and/or rehearsals, Sid and Nancy almost never went out, and when they did, took Taxi’s everywhere ---- Making it extremely difficult to get ANY members autograph, let alone the entire Band…. Almost EVERY SINGLE SEX PISTOL GROUP SIGNATURE I HAVE SEEN ON Ebay claims to have been signed on Dec. 25th at Huddersfield for the local kids- Their last gig in the U.K. It was not only the show with the least pandemonium, but one of the only (Post L.P. Release) gigs where they were all accessible. How convienient… In the States, Sid was CLOSELY guarded (to keep him away from Smack) all through their 12 day tour, and he spent the remainder of his short life with completely diminishing fame, as something of an oddity (getting attacked at his Methadone Clinic almost daily), and in & out of jail… All of which is more testimony of just how hard it is to get a real Sid signature…
As for Nancy’s Death… 1) Robin hung out with him, and spoke to him alotduring his first release on bail… Now this wasn’t some stranger coming up to him and asking “Did you do it?” – No, this comes from one of his few remaining friends… She SWEARS (and would with her hand on a Bible), that Sid – and she can’t stress this enough - truly, truly did not know if he did it or not… You can tell (with someone you know) if they’re being glib, or sarcastic, etc… From her reports to me about their conversations, I believe he honestly did not know. 2) Eliot Kidd from “The Demons” (also a friend of more than 30 years until his passing), was at their room that night. Firstly, he says Sid was OUT the entire evening, to the point of snoring. He also Swore to me, that he was the 2nd to last person to leave their room that night… The very last, was a Speed Dealer, that no one seemed to know (but everyone assumed someone else did). He told me that Sid & Nancy had about $2,000 in their drawer that night (I don’t know how he knew this, unless he had seen Nancy go into it, to get some cash for drugs). Firstly he felt it’s very possible that this guy was waiting for his chance at the money. If Nancy had say, gone to the bathroom, come out and seen him going through their drawers- a fight would have ensued. She was the type; and Sid’s knife was almost certainly on the dresser top, next to their keys… If Neon Leon had shown up after the fact (Eliot swears he wasn’t there when he left), he may have seen what had happened, grabbed Sid’s bass and gold records (which he was found with days later, after hiding out), and split. He claims Sid gave the items to him; but anyone who knows of their relationship, finds this completely unbelievable. So take it for what it’s worth…
      Sid Vicious – R.I.P.

On Nov-24-06 at 16:08:03 PST, seller added the following information:

I recently got an eMail from C.Vicious76, stating "Like um, Sid didn't play on the Bollocks Alubum (his spelling) try another one please... Chris Vicious." I was so annoyed - This was MY youth, these were MY friends, and I knew and met practically ALL of the original Punk bands.... So I shot him back a mail, saying "Get a Life" THEN, realized it was too late to print it in this ad... But I wanted to write about it, because this is EXACTLY why I keep these auctions 'private' - Fools like this write to REAL collectors & REAL bidders, who know that Bollocks was released Oct. '77 (Sid was already a member and DID play on 'Holidays' -mixed in with Steve's track), and Sid died in Feb. '79..... Which is PLENTY of time for fans to ask him to sign an LP from a band that he was in- whether he played on most of it or not...
