Description
Silver Platter Service sides 123/124.
Cover VG+ with good seams, front is M-, back has slight writing, inventory number.
Record is M- except for the last minute of side two where there's a scratch as the soft orchestra fades out. All featured tracks are beautiful and the Brian Wilson section is a strong M-.
Probably one of the top ten rarest Beach Boys items, this has Brian in the studio with a several minute interview. Three tracks from The Hollyridge Strings Beach Boys Songbook are featured and Brian answers questions about the Stu Phillips interpretations of his songs. He also gives a great description of how the Beach Boys started. This interview is exclusive to this album and can be found nowhere else. A true rarity, especially in such nice condition.
Another cool feature is the interview on side two with Jim Economides, the master behind many of those Capitol Sounds of the Drags LPs. He discusses the recording techniques, locations, etc. There's even an excerpt from Big Sounds Of The Go-Karts (I've never seen that one).
p.s. The opening and closing themes for each side are performed by the Four Freshmen and you can definitely tell where Brian got his influences.
