Description
Here is my cherished and very rare original 1967 eponymous LP by Skip Bifferty. As I write, this is the ONLY original first-pressing RCA SF 7941 copy on offer on eBay. Grab it now!
I purchased this new in 1967, being impressed with their strident singles such as ‘On Love’ getting airplay on wonderful Radio One, specifically (of course) via the inimitable, late, great John Peel.
The vinyl is still in excellent condition and plays superbly; the cover is splendidly preserved too though it must be noted that I did decorate the plain black-and-white line images on the rear of the cover (quite tastefully, in psychedelic terms) with felt-tip pens. It seemed a good idea at the time.
Otherwise there are only minimal creases and marks on the sleeve and the laminated front montage is clean and shiny.
The LP has not been played much - I was consuming all of the discs from the psychedelic rock explosion in those days from Hendrix, The Doors, The Nice, Jethro Tull, BJH, Cream, and other prog/psych LPs as well as the classic Who, Beatles, Stones, Small Faces releases - so nothing stayed on the turntable too long!
Happily, that’s why my original 60s / 70s LPs are still in such great condition! I have elected to sell the disc so that a collector can gain benefit, as I do have all the tracks on CD / mp3 now.

Released in 1967; the LP disc has the black RCA Victor label with the red/white RCA logo on the label. Stereo; SF 7941.
Made in England by The Decca Record Company Ltd; Sleeve printed in England by Clout & Baker Ltd. Matrix Numbers are: WGBS-0031-1K (Side One) and WGBS-0032-1K (Side Two).
On the back cover of the LP sleeve, the writers’ credit for Jackson is spelled correctly (on some later orange RCA copies of this LP he was called “Jackman”); Turnbull is spelled incorrectly as ''Turnball'' on both the album sleeve and the record label.

BRIEF HISTORY:
British psychedelic rock band Skip Bifferty formed when Newcastle upon Tyne band The Chosen Few (featuring Alan Hull, later of Lindisfarne) changed their name and recruited a new singer, Graham Bell, to replace Hull. The band landed a recording contract with RCA Records.
This resultant 1967 album, ‘Skip Bifferty’ proved to be their only LP release, as the band was short-lived and split during 1969, though it had resurfaced as Heavy Jelly on a pounding (extremely collectible) 45 RPM Island Records single - also highly collectible - ‘I Keep Singing That Same Old Song’.
Together with Turnbull and Gallagher, Graham Bell formed Bell & Arc in July 1971. Bassist Colin Gibson went on to work with Ginger Baker, Bert Jansch, Alvin Lee and Van Morrison, amongst others. John Turnbull and Mick Gallagher reappeared in 1977 in The Blockheads, backing Ian Dury; in 1979 Gallagher played and recorded with The Clash and The Only Ones.
My vinyl collection is stored properly in smoke, pet-free and brat-free home, in a furnished dry room environment; discs have only been played on a high-quality transcription hi-fi system.
