Description
From 1973, out of Iowa, comes The Slightest Idea with their psych LP entitled Bring Your Own on Pit Records (private press). Issued as a 100 press only! The album is composed of good garage and psych rock covers and one heavy psych original. It is a highly recommended and sought after LP showing what was going on in middle America while the rest of the music world was changing! The vocals sound as though they are recorded in one room, while the band played in the next room! The songs they do are: Honky Tonk Woman (done in a garage mode), It Don't Come Easy (also in garage mode), Roll Over Beethoven (done in heavy fuzz psych mode), Smoke On The Water (done in heavy fuzzed out psych mode with a garage guitar solo in the middle), Born To Be Wild (done in garage psych mode), We're An American Band (done in garage psych mode with fuzz),Are You Ready (done in a garage mode with fuzz and wawa), Brown Sugar (done in a garage mode). The last song here is entitled Bring Your Own. It is a 5:38 original song of fuzz and wawa. Interesting stories abound about this group, such as when they were taken to dinner by a promoter in a Cadillac and he took them to MacDonald's!! The band practiced in a burned out building and only had 100 pressed, as they were breaking up. Recommended! I obtained this copy directly from the band in 1990, after several years of trying to track them down! I also have a copy in my collection. Great garage psych artifact!!!
