Description
A magnificent copy of the complete Bartok String Quartets, played with precision, authority and humor by the Hungarian String Quartet.
This is DGG SLPM 138650/52, a three disc set, on the early "Alle Hersteller" GY5 tulips label. Slipcase dated 2/64, with "stereo" highlighted in red.
This records were carefully auditioned with a Goldring 1042 cartridge, Music Hall TT, Densen amplification and Epos speakers. The three thick discs look glossy and flawless, and play perfectly-NM, with beautifully quiet surfaces. They're like new.
Intimate, excellent sound, not always the case with DGG's, but this compares to the best from EMI, RCA and Decca of the same period.
Insert sheet is NM. The slipcase is crisp & bright, with some light wear on the edges & corners-VG+.
This is the ultimate collector's copy of this indispensable set--you won't find better.
