Description
SLS 785 ASD 2518-9 Mahler Barbirolli rare 1ed col stamp
Box condition Near Mint , 2LP's Excellent (+++++) downgraded because of pen writing and VERY occasional quiet pips in the quiet passages!!!. Originally owned by a professional Cello Player who signed the 4 page insert and unfortunately also wrote track times on the insert as well. Being poorly sighted as well, he wrote the side numbers in pen on each sides label (See photo's) Unfortunate as most copies sold seem to be the second pressing black and white Band label.
Also offered today is an extremely rare pressing (View My Other Items For Sale) of Barbirolli conducting Symphony No 9, pressed off the original HMV ASD 596/7 1st edition stampers, by EMI Australia.
This coming week you are surrounded by Mahler, almost every listing at Missionsellit, and a lot I didn't get listed just ask if you are seeking, I might find.....)
Barbirolli is regarded as one of the great interpretors of Mahler, and to some degree he and Bruno Walter bought about the modern resurgence in interest in all of his works. Today I am offering in this listing,a very elusive first pressing (Colored stamp Label) of Symphony 5 also with Janet Baker singing the 5 Ruckert songs on side 4 played by the New Philharmonia Orchestra.
ALL 4 sides wet washed, treated with LAST preservative and FULLY TEST PLAYED, all 4 sides REPRODUCE NEAR MINT SOUND QUALITY. I can only see a few fine paper scuffs in bright light on these ones!!!! No repetitive tics or other damage related noise, only the very occasional normal vinyl related reproduction tic, and not repetetive, and very very infrequently.
This will make a great purchase for someone wanting a copy of theses rare Mahler recordings, conducted by Sir John Barbirolli played by the New Philharmonia Orchestra.
For regular readers of my listings, this set is only the second one I have seen in austalia, and I have seen a lot of records....
