Description

Very rare SLS150 Rocket 150 12" 33rpm Stereo LP  celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the opening of the LIVERPOOL AND MANCHESTER RAILWAY
This Album was recorded live at Bold Colliery, St. Helen's Junction, and Rainhill in May 1980. Much of the background noise has been left in to retain the feeling and atmosphere of not only Rocket 150 but also the original event. Children laughing, people talking, dogs barking and birds singing, much as it would have been 150 years ago.
The actual Cavalcade was recorded down the line from Rainhill to avoid overwhelming crowd noise and the public address system. Some of the tracks recorded at Bold are unique. Recorded here is the only time that 'Novelty' moved under her own steam, travelling on a slight downhill gradient sounding like an ageing asthmatic dinosaur and proving once again that she was too light and greatly under-powered.
